Lindsay Switzer, BHK, RMT, Owner, Operator

LindsayLindsay Switzer, BHK, RMT Lindsay Switzer is a Registered Massage Therapist. She is in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and a member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Human Kinetics in Movement Science from the University of Windsor. She is also a provider under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. Lindsay has worked as a Registered Massage Therapist since 2013.

In that time, she has had experience with many therapeutic techniques, including traditional Swedish relaxation, pregnancy massage, sports massage, deep tissue, manual lymphatic drainage, and myofascial release.

She has also treated a wide array of clients and conditions ranging from: pain control during labour and delivery, pregnancy associated discomfort, athletic event coverage (e.g. rugby, soccer, martial arts), orthopaedic injury rehabilitation (e.g. hip/knee replacement, ACL repair), symptom management of systemic, muscular, and neurological disorders (e.g. Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetes mellitus, etc.)

Lindsay firmly believes that Registered Massage Therapy also has a place in the treatment of such psychological or emotional conditions as depression, anxiety/panic, grief, stress (including post-traumatic stress), and even post-partum. Healing is a multifaceted process, and all elements must be considered for meaningful recovery. Poor mental and emotional health has been closely linked to physical conditions ranging from muscular tension, poor sleep habits, neurological and immunological impairments, all leading to symptoms such as headaches, strains, over-use, and even increased susceptibility to illness and infection.

Lindsay also has experience in the modalities of Kinesiology Taping and use of essential oils for clinical massage treatments:

  • Kinesiology Taping is a low-impact method of tissue manipulation designed to sustain positioning over a minimum 3-5 day period. It uses an elasticized cotton tape with hypoallergenic adhesive. The therapeutic use of Kinesiology Tape has many applications. Please feel free to ask about it at your next appointment!
  • Use of essential oils in Massage Therapy can help to augment some of its benefits, such as increase circulation, invigorate or relax the senses, or even produce anti-inflammatory effects.

Prior to her practice as an RMT, Lindsay worked in the field of Kinesiology for 10 years in settings such as Chiropractic and Sports Medicine clinics, Fitness Centres and Gyms, and Long Term Care. Having such an extensive repertoire in the aspects of biomechanics, athletic/fitness training and conditioning, Lindsay maintains a unique perspective in her profession, utilizing the body’s natural processes and movements to optimize her massage therapy treatments.

Lindsay believes in the body’s innate and natural ability to heal itself through Complementary and Alternative Medicines. She also believes there is a time and place for progressive Western medicine as well. She sincerely believes that the two ideals can, in fact, co-exist and even complement each other to provide clients with the best possible options to enhance their health – physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.
